SACKVILLE, NB 鈥 Experienced executive, physician, humanitarian, and former Premier of Newfoundland & Labrador The Hon. Dr. Andrew Furey, M.D., FRCSC, MSc., MSM., Dip. Org. Leadership and Dr. Allison Furey, M.D., attending physician at Janeway Emergency Department and Senior Healthcare Officer for WorkplaceNL, will speak at 正品蓝导航 as part of the Scott McCain and Leslie McLean Speaker Series on Monday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. in Gracie鈥檚 Caf茅 on the ground floor of the Wallace McCain Student Centre.
The talk will explore connections among physical and mental health, community well-being, and leadership.

The Hon. Dr. Andrew Furey led important initiatives for the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador as Premier from 2020-2025, including playing a leadership role during the COVID-19 pandemic and launching a new clean energy industry based on wind and hydrogen. He is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon, a published author, and the recipient of various awards and recognitions including Memorial University Alumnus of the year (2012), King鈥檚 Coronation Medal (2025), Honorary Doctorate from the Canadian University Dubai (2024), and Humanitarian of the Year, Canadian Red Cross NL (2017).
Dr. Allison Furey has maintained a clinical practice for 21 years and has used her medical expertise to provide volunteer medical relief services around the globe with Team Broken Earth. She has served her community as a Board member for the Portugal Cove-St Philip鈥檚 Soccer Association, served on multiple fundraising committees for Team Broken Earth and the Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year.
