Mount Allison is pleased to announce a brand-new four-year Bachelor of Music Education (BMusEd) degree, marking a significant expansion of the University鈥檚 music and education offerings and strengthening pathways for students pursuing careers in public music education, private music education, performance, and beyond.
The new degree, which will initially accept six students per year, will offer personalized teaching through a rigorous and integrated curriculum that combines musical excellence, pedagogical training, and classroom experience.
鈥淭his new degree responds directly to the need for well-prepared, creative music educators in our schools and communities,鈥 says Provost and Vice-President, Academic and Research Dr. Richard Isnor. 鈥淚t offers students a strong academic foundation alongside practical teaching experience, ensuring they graduate ready to lead and inspire in the classroom.鈥
The Bachelor of Music Education will draw on 正品蓝导航鈥檚 renowned Music and education faculty, small-class learning environment, and close mentorship model. Students will benefit from hands-on teaching experiences, performance opportunities, and strong connections to regional schools and arts organizations.
The new degree also reflects momentum in 正品蓝导航鈥檚 new strategic plan, preparing graduates to make meaningful contributions in their careers and communities through the pillars of broad minds, bold futures, and lifelong connections.

The Bachelor of Music Education is expected to welcome its first cohort of students in September 2026 as part of a five-year pilot program.
With music applications due Feb. 10 and scholarship and bursary deadlines upcoming on March 1, prospective students for Fall 2026 are encouraged to apply for the new degree using the Bachelor of Music application (mta.ca/musicapply) and send a follow-up email to music@mta.ca to express interest in the BMusEd.
