12th annual Mountie Day to take place Thursday, March 26

This event recognizes student-athletes contributions in the community of Tantramar

 

Thursday, March 26 is Mountie Day, which has become an annual tradition where Tantramar recognizes the incredible contributions of ÕýÆ·À¶µ¼º½â€™s student-athletes to both the University and the wider community.

Their contributions on and off the field make a lasting impact on campus and in the community. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the entire Tantramar community are invited to wear garnet and gold throughout the day on March 26 in support of our Mounties! 
 
Join the Celebrations at the Flag Raising Ceremony

To kick off celebrations, join us for a Flag Raising Ceremony at the Tantramar Municipal Office at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome to join us for a flag-raising, a few words, Mountie Pride, and cake!

Night of the Mounties — Celebrating Excellence 

The Night of the Mounties awards ceremony will take place in the evening, recognizing the achievements of student-athletes, including the prestigious Male and Female Athlete of the Year awards. Stay tuned for the official announcement of the winners on March 27! 

Mounties Athletics — A Year of Achievements
 
Mounties Athletics participates in both Atlantic University Sport (AUS)/USPORT and Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA). Men’s football, women’s hockey, swimming, badminton, and men’s and women’s soccer compete in the AUS. Men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball. 

It was an outstanding year for Mounties Athletics, both on and off the field. Some highlights include: 

•    Women’s Volleyball finished 1st in the ACAA regular season standings and were crowned BACK-TO-BACK ACAA Champions (2024-25, 2025–26)
•    Women’s Volleyball team qualified for the CCAA National Championship in Manitoba and had a huge win against the Providence Pilots.
•    Jonas Munroe (Men’s Basketball) surpassed 1,000 career points as a Mountie
•    Five Mounties badminton athletes qualified for the CCAA National Championship
•    David Kim (Badminton) was named ACAA Rookie of the Year

Football

•    Owen O’Neal – AUS 1st Team All-Star (Linebacker)

Swimming

•    The women's team finished 2nd overall at the AUS Championships
•    Men’s team finished 3rd overall at the AUS Championships
•    Jes Lawrence set Mounties team records in the 100m Butterfly and 200m Butterfly
•    Jes Lawrence – AUS Silver Medalist in the 200m Individual Medley
•    Jes Lawrence – 3rd overall in the 2025–26 AUS Rookie Rankings
•    Makayla Churchill – AUS Silver Medalist in the 50m Backstroke
•    Allison Gauthier – AUS Bronze Medalist in the 100m Backstroke
•    Allison Gauthier – AUS Silver Medalist in the 200m Backstroke
•    Allison Gauthier, Rachel Chan, Jes Lawrence, and Emily Levy – AUS Bronze Medalists in the Women’s 4x100 Medley Relay
•    Rowan Campbell, John Roberts, Taite Marques, and Zachary Marques – AUS Bronze Medalists in the Men’s 4x100 Medley Relay
•    John Roberts set Mounties team records in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke
•    Andrew Sauer set Mounties team records in the 800m and 1500m Freestyle
•    Rowan Campbell, John Roberts, Zachary Marques, and Andrew Sauer set a Mounties team record in the Men’s 4x50 Medley Relay

ACAA

Women’s Volleyball

•    Finished the regular season 1st in the ACAA
•    ACAA Champions (2024-2025, 2025–26) 
•    Qualified for the CCAA National Championship in Manitoba
•    Chloe Palmer – 3rd in ACAA in kills per set (3.46)
•    Chloe Palmer – 1st in ACAA in total kills (273)
•    Mya Artibello – 5th in ACAA in digs per set (3.10)
•    Mya Artibello – 5th in ACAA in total digs (223)
•    Ana McCain – Named ACAA Athlete of the Week (March 3)

Women’s Basketball

•    Danielle Alexander – 1st Team All-Conference
•    Grace Tilley – 2nd Team All-Conference
•    Emma Roberts – League leader in assists
•    Emma Roberts and Grace Tilley – Top 5 in three-point percentage
•    Danielle Alexander – 1st in rebounds, 1st in field goal percentage, 4th in scoring
•    Team led the league in assists and field goal percentage
•    Team recorded the top offensive efficiency rating in the conference
•    Finished the season #14 in the CCAA National Rankings
•    Continued running the Junior Mounties program for young female basketball players in the region

Men’s Basketball

•    Jonas Munroe – 4th in total points and rebounds in the league
•    Jonas Munroe – 3rd in three-pointers made
•    Lance Mombourquette – League leader in minutes played
•    Chris Hager – 4th in total assists
•    Brennan Devereux – 4th in total blocks


Academic Achievements

•    8 Football players, 12 Women's Hockey players, 7 Men's Soccer players, 13 Women's Soccer players, and 19 Swimming athletes were recognized as Academic All-Canadians
•    10 Women’s Basketball players, 5 Men’s Basketball players, 11 Women's Volleyball players, and 6 Badminton athletes were recognized as CCAA National Scholars


Off the Field Contributions

•    Black Student-Athlete Union (BSAU) hosted their first successful pep rally 
•    High number of student-athlete participation in Canadian Blood and Plasma donation drives 
•    Women’s Hockey Head Coach Addie Miles-Abbott participated in the FISU Games 
•    Women’s Hockey hosted a cancer fundraiser 
•    Many athletes are actively volunteering in local schools, food banks, and community mentorship programs  
•    55 Academic All-Canadians and 40 National Scholars recognized for their achievements
